Electoral Committee Announces Election Procedures for Mansoor bin Mohammed as President of the National Olympic Committee

The Electoral Committee of the National Olympic Committee (NOC), chaired by Advisor Omar Miran, with Advisors Hassan Ali Al Marzouqi and Mohammed Al Maamari as members, announced the election procedures for His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum as President of the UAE NOC.

The announcement was made during a press conference held on Wednesday in Dubai, attended by representatives from various media outlets.

Advisor Omar Miran began his address by reaffirming the Electoral Committee’s commitment to upholding the principles of independence and transparency in all aspects of its mandate. He emphasised that from the moment the committee was entrusted with overseeing the election process for the National Olympic Committee (NOC) presidency, it has remained firmly dedicated to adhering to these core values.

He further explained that the electoral procedures for the NOC presidency commenced after the Board of Directors of the National Olympic Committee extended its appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the outgoing president. Subsequently, the candidacy period was opened for five days to fill the vacant presidency position in accordance with the NOC’s statutes and election regulations approved by the Board of Directors.

Miran stated that following the expiration of the designated legal timeframe, the Electoral Committee closed the candidacy period for the National Olympic Committee (NOC) presidency on 1 February. He also announced the candidacy of His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum for the presidency, marking the official commencement of election procedures for His Highness’s appointment as NOC President.

The Chairperson of the Electoral Committee further announced that the Ordinary General Assembly Meeting of the NOC, which includes the election of the NOC Board President, will be held on 26 March in Dubai as per the NOC’s statutes.
