Al Matrooshi scored 50:51 seconds and was eliminated from the qualifying round



Yousuf Al Matrooshi, the UAE national swimmer, scored 51:50 seconds in the men's 100-meter freestyle at the 32nd Summer Olympic Games in the Japanese capital, Tokyo, held during the period July 23 to August 8, with 11,839 athletes competing in 33 sports and 339 competitions in 48 athletic facilities.

Al Matrooshi participated in the third round of the competition, which includes 9 rounds with total 70 swimmers, but he was eliminated from the qualifying round. The best 16 swimmers proceed to the semi-finals, and the best 8 recorded-time swimmers to compete in the final to be held today.

For his part, swimmer Yousuf Al Matrooshi stressed that his swimming career is still ahead of him and he strives to win medals and make achievements for the UAE in the future, noting that he has just realized his 18th years, which allow him to develop, refine and smash personal and local records. Al Matrooshi further indicated that he aspires to participate in the next Olympic Games Paris 2024 and Los Angeles 2028, which he will work on from now.

Al Matrooshi expressed his pride to represent the UAE in his first Olympic Games participation, extending his thanks and appreciation to the National Olympic Committee, the General Sports Authority, the Swimming Federation, the Dubai Sports Council and the various sports organizations that supported him throughout the last stage to be present in the biggest sports forums.

"I will focus on making the best records in the important upcoming events, including the World Short-Distance Swimming Championships in Abu Dhabi next December, as well as the Arab and Gulf Swimming Championships, as all those championships are challenging for all participating swimmers to gain new experiences and develop the professional level optimally." Al Matrooshi added.
