Bin Sulayem participates in "Executive" meeting of the GCC Olympic Committees



Mohammed bin Sulayem, Secretary-General of the National Olympic Committee, participated in the meeting of the Executive Office of the Presidents of the Olympic Committee in the GCC countries, which was held via video communication technology, which is the 91st preparatory meeting for the thirty-third meeting of the heads of the Olympic committees in the Gulf states. The meeting was also attended by Eng. Azza bint Sulaiman, Assistant Secretary-General for Administrative and Financial Affairs of the National Olympic Committee.


The meeting discussed many issues of common interest, foremost of which is the follow-up to the implementation of the decisions of the Supreme Council at the summit of Sultan Qaboos and Sheikh Sabah (Al-Ula - January 2021), and the contents of the final statement and the announcement issued by it, including completing the requirements of global competitiveness, strengthening strategic partnerships, and developing joint working mechanisms.


The meeting also discussed the strategy for developing joint work in the sports field in the GCC countries for the period (2022-2028), which includes many joint programs and projects, which enhance joint Gulf action.


The members reviewed the report prepared by the Bahrain Olympic Committee on the Gulf Sports Disputes Settlement Authority, and the recommendations issued by the work team to discuss aspects of joint international cooperation in the sports field. 2022, in addition to discussing the report prepared by the General Secretariat of the GCC on the work of the organizing committees for sports.


The meeting concluded with a number of recommendations that would enhance joint Gulf action in the field of sports, and they will be presented to the thirty-third meeting of Their Highnesses, Excellencies, and Heads of Olympic Committees, which is scheduled to be held on Thursday, September 30, 2021.
