NOC Board approves proposal the establishment of the UAE Games

The aim is to support the creation of a generation of athletes capable of representing the nation in sports events



The Board endorses:

  • Establishing a Sports Lab to collect and analyse accurate data on athletes

  • Naming the official delegation participating in the Asian Winter Games in Harbin, China

  • Forming NOC’s Technical Affairs and Sports & Environment Committees


The Board of Directors of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) held its meeting this Thursday morning in Dubai, chaired by Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Vice President of the NOC, and attended by His Excellency Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of Sports and Vice President of the NOC, Chairman of the Executive Office, His Excellency Faris Mohammed Al Mutawa, Secretary General of the NOC, and members of the Board of Directors. The meeting witnessed the endorsement of several resolutions and the discussion of several important topics listed on the agenda.


During its meeting, the NOC Board approved a proposal to organise UAE Games initiative, a multi-sport event involving at least seven sports. Participation will include not only Emirati citizens but also children of Emirati mothers, individuals born in the UAE, and residents. The initiative aims to contribute to achieving the goals of the National Sports Strategy 2031 by fostering well-being and establishing a distinct sports media identity for the UAE. It also seeks to inspire Emirati youth and support the development of an exceptional generation of athletes capable of representing the nation in sports forums at all levels by discovering, nurturing talents, and providing spaces and opportunities to practise various sports activities. This initiative marks an important step towards strengthening the Olympic movement in the UAE.


The meeting approved the (Arrows Lab) Japanese programme, an advanced initiative aimed at collecting and analysing accurate data on athletes, including their physical and health conditions, to identify sports talents, guide them towards suitable sports, and improve their technical performance.

The NOC Board also approved the formation of the Technical Affairs Committee, chaired by His Excellency Nasser Mohammed Al Tamimi, with members including Ismail Matar Ibrahim Al Junaibi, Rashid Mohammed Abdullah Mohammed, Faisal Fahd Ahmed Al Ketbi, Abdullah Sultan Mohammed Al Jallaf, Ahmed Mohammed Ahmed Al Masaabi, and Al Yazia Sultan Ibrahim Al Suwaidi.


It also endorsed the formation of the Sports and Environment Committee chaired by His Excellency Mansoor Juma Bu Osaiba, with His Excellency Rashid bin Markhan as Vice Chairman, and members including Dr. Yasser Al Dookhi, Mohammed Darwish Mohammed, Nasreen bin Darwish, Ahmed Al Jabouri, and Fatchiyeh Zadurian. The board also approved the formation of the organising committee for the 10th National Sports Day was also approved, along with the membership of the UAE Sports for All Federation in the NOC’s General Assembly.

The NOC Board meeting also endorsed the naming of the official delegation participating in the Asian Winter Games, held from 7 to 14 February in Harbin, People’s Republic of China. It also approved the final report on the 1st Gulf Youth Games UAE 2024, held last April with the participation of 3,500 male and female athletes competing in 24 individual and team sports under the theme: "One Gulf is One... Our Youth are Promising," was also approved.


Additionally, the NOC Board approved the report of the Chairman of the Technical Affairs Committee regarding the findings of meetings with sports federations to set the sports participation programme for 2025-2026. The discussions covered the stages of the comprehensive strategy for preparation and readiness for the Youth Olympic Games Dakar 2026, the next edition of the Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles 2028, and various other sporting events that will serve as key milestones for developing athletes’ capabilities and improving their performance.


The NOC Board also approved assigning His Excellency Qais Al Dhalai, Chairman of the Financial Resources and Marketing Committee, the task of formulating a plan to attract sponsors for the National Olympic Committee in compliance with the provisions of the NOC’s Statutes and the Olympic Charter of the International Olympic Committee.


The meeting reviewed the report on the 33rd Olympic Games in Paris, held from 26 July to 11 August, with the participation of 10,500 athletes from 200 National Olympic Committees competing in 32 sports. The UAE was represented by 14 male and female athletes competing in five different sports: equestrian, judo, athletics, cycling, and swimming. The report on the UAE Olympic House, which was held alongside the Paris Olympic Games and lasted 16 days, was also reviewed. The event attracted 15,000 visitors, who were introduced to Emirati culture and the country’s renowned hospitality. The NOC Board extended its sincere thanks and appreciation to Her Highness Sheikha Mariam bint Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, as Deputy Chairperson of the Presidential Court for National Projects, and her distinguished team for their commendable efforts at the UAE Olympic House, a unique national landmark that successfully portraited a unique mental image of the UAE’s heritage and history.


During the meeting, the NOC Board also extended congratulations to Her Excellency Noura Al Jasmi for her election to the Executive Board of the Olympic Council of Asia, following her victory in the elections held during the 44th General Assembly of the Council, which took place last September in New Delhi, India. The meeting saw the election of the Vice Presidents of the Olympic Council of Asia for the five geographical regions: East Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, Central Asia, and West Asia.


The board discussed the report on the 38th International Conference on Sports Medicine, to be held from 24 to 27 October, with the participation of a select group of sports medicine professionals from around the world, including orthopaedic surgeons, physical therapists, nutritionists, occupational therapists, and psychiatrists.

The attendees also reviewed reports from the Chairman of the Technical Affairs Committee of the National Olympic Committee on the 34th Olympic Games in Los Angeles 2028 and the progress report on the NOC’s new headquarters. The Secretary-General’s report on allocating space for the NOC at the Sports Society building in Dubai was also discussed, along with the proposal to rename the UAE Swimming Federation to the UAE Aquatics Federation.
