The Technical Committee of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) urged the national sports federations to submit their plans for the next four years. The plans are expected to identify steps and stages for making sporting achievements and scoring great results at all levels.
To this effect, the Technical Committee held remote video meeting chaired by His Excellency Mohammed Al Mahmoud, Second Vice President of the NOC cum Chairman of the Technical Committee. Attendees included Abdul Mohsen Fahad Al Dossary, Vice Chairman of the Committee in addition to Nada Askar, Talal Al Hashemi and Ali Omar Al Balushi – Members of the Committee, and Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Rapporteur of the Committee.
Attendees stressed the importance of setting up specific plans and strategies by sports federations tailored to the nature of each sport to improve the performance of athletes such that they can achieve better results in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the NOC, calling for ambitious plans for better achievements befitting the profile of the UAE sport.
The meeting recommended the federations to adopt ideas for developing beach sports in all games and take advantage of the geographical nature of the UAE, which has abundant and long stretching beaches enabling the practicing of various types of beach sports. It noted that such advantages have to be utilized to improve and promote our beach sports.
The meeting called for focusing on the first Gulf Games for Junior, which will be hosted by the UAE in 2022, after being postponed due to the spread of the Covid-19 epidemic. The Games should be viewed as a great opportunity for the federations to select the best talents and start developing technical programmes to groom promising athletes capable of representing the UAE in the Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, Senegal 2026.
Finally, Members of the Technical Committee appreciated the great efforts and unlimited support of Sharjah to women’s sports in all disciplines. They noted that such support contributed significantly to enhancing the results of Emirati girls several sporting events.
