Rashid bin Humaid received the Delegation of the International Federation of Sports Medicine


The day before yesterday, Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Vice President of the National Olympic Committee, received Professor Fabio Pigozi, President of the International Federation of Sports Medicine, and his accompanying delegation to strengthen cooperation, activate successful partnerships in the fields of sports medicine, and discuss preparations for Dubai to host the 38th International Congress of Sports Medicine next year, with the participation of 2000 athletes.

The two parties discussed the organization of the international medical event, which will be held for the first time in the United Arab Emirates. They also discussed what has been achieved since Dubai was revealed as the host of the conference, during the 37th, which was held in Mexico in September last year and in which the Sports Medicine Committee of the National Olympic Committee participated.

During the meeting, the most important axes of work from the organizing committee of the conference, which is responsible for preparing and arranging for the event, were reviewed. The most prominent logistical, technical, and organizational preparations and public perception set by the team to provide a special event worthy of the reputation of the United Arab Emirates and its leading position in organizing and holding major international events were also reviewed.


For his part, Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi confirmed the need for coordination and early planning for such important events, which cover a variety of aspects besides hosting, in order to leave a lasting impression on all participants, particularly if the host country is as big as the United Arab Emirates. It linked its objectives to leadership, excellence, and progress in all fields, due to the support and interest of wise leadership and its confidence in the capabilities of national cadres and their ability to manage the most prominent and important events at all levels.

Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi pointed out that the vision and directions of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and President of the National Olympic Committee, always enhance awareness of the value and importance of attracting conferences, sports events, and other various related activities. It encourages all members of the Organizing Committee of the International Conference of Sports Medicine to achieve the best figures and reach the desired outputs, which contributes to establishing the country's position in its various sectors, whether in tourism, economy, and the global conference industry, as well as enhancing its competitive level on the international sports map in general.

For his part, Prof. Fabio Begozzi, expressed his gratitude for the kind welcome and hospitality he received while in the UAE. He expressed his confidence in providing an exceptional edition of the International Congress of Sports Medicine, based on the various preparations reviewed during the visit as well as the passion and determination of the organizing committee, which highlighted the volume of work and efforts made to improve all aspects of the event.

The meeting was attended by Prof. Yannis Pitsiladis, Vice President of the International Federation of Sports Medicine, Dr. Hashel Al Tunaiji, President of the Sports Medicine Committee of the National Olympic Committee, and Dr. Abdullah Al Rahoumi, Vice President of the Sports Medicine Committee of the Olympic Committee.


Stations for Dubai in hosting the 38th International Conference of Sports Medicine

  • Dubai won the bid to host the 38th International Congress of Sports Medicine, during the 37th conference, which was held in Mexico from 22-25 September 2023 and in which the Sports Medicine Committee of the National Olympic Committee participated.

  • Dr. Abdullah Al Rahoumi, Vice President of the Sports Medicine Committee of the National Olympic Committee, received the conference flag from Filippo Gomez, President of the Sports Medicine Committee in Mexico, after announcing Dubai's winning bid to host and organize the Conference and signing the Hosting Agreement.

  • The Sports Medicine Committee of the National Olympic Committee, in cooperation with the Department of Economy and Tourism in Dubai, has prepared an integrated file that includes all the targeted aspects of the management of the prominent international conference, which favored the UAE and the choice of Dubai to organize the next edition in 2024.

  • Several members of the field of sports medicine participate in the International Conference of Sports Medicine, whether orthopedic surgeons, physiotherapists, dietitians, occupational therapists, or psychiatrists.
