The National Olympic Committee Youth Council (NOC Youth Council) has explored means to enhance its progress during the next stage, including the upcoming key local and international events and occasions. This activity comes as part of NOC Youth Council’s duties of spreading the culture of the Olympic Movement, emphasizing its importance among the youth, and proposing initiatives that highlight sports a lifestyle and a cornerstone for community youth cultivation.
This came during the first meeting of the Youth Council, which was held yesterday evening, Monday, at NOC headquarters in Dubai, in the presence of HE Eng. Azza bint Sulaiman, Assistant Secretary-General for Administrative and Financial Affairs of the National Olympic Committee, Rashid Muhammad Abdullah, President of the NOC Youth Council, Ahmed Ali Al Mazmi, NOC Youth Council Vice President, and the members; Sultan Ahmed Al Mazmi, Mohammed Hasan Al Murawwi, Majd Mohamed Al Balushi, Kholoud Hamdan Al Hosani, Majid Sultan Al Mansouri, Ali Jabir Al Marzouqi, and Sheikha Ali Al Kaabi.
At the beginning of the meeting, the attendees appreciated the support of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and President of the UAE National Olympic Committee, in all Olympic activities, in addition to his constant keenness to enhance communication with athletes and the youth, with the aim of enhancing the UAE sports and strengthens its presence in all sports events, in which the UAE participates.
The meeting included a visual presentation that addressed various themes of the UAE NOC’s initiatives, such as Olympic sports education, interviews with sports office holders, interviews with international sports stars during their visit to the UAE, the involvement of youth in local and international federations, women’s sports initiatives, and sports volunteering.
Her Excellency Eng. Azza bint Sulaiman stressed the importance of the presence of UAE NOC Youth Council in the various activities that the NOC implements or participates in, with the aim of developing NOC UAE Council’s experiences and knowledge of the nature of the Olympic work and the continuous follow-up and attention it requires, in order to ensure the formation of a qualified, skilful and experienced youth base with fresh experiences and ideas that paves the way for advanced stages of the NOC’s participation and eventful progress at all levels.
“I would like to extend the warmest thanks to H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and President of the National Olympic Committee, for his confidence in the efforts of the NOC to empower young national competencies and to form the NOC Youth Council to benefit from the experiences and ideas of the UAE youth in various fields. We are fortunate in the United Arab Emirates with the support the wise leadership that provides all possible means to empower all segments of society and gives them an opportunity to serve their country and contribute to the promotion of achievements in various fields.” Rashid Mohammed said.
“We pledge the wise leadership to be loyal soldiers, in our field of work, and to work as a team in order to achieve more achievements for our UAE in general and for the sports sector in particular.” He added.
The attendees reviewed the key duties of the Youth Council in accordance with the decision of the NOC’s Executive Office Director, Decision No. (1) of 2023 regarding the Approval of the National Olympic Committee’s Youth Council as a corporate youth council affiliated with the Federal Youth Authority.
The duties of the UAE NOC Youth Council include proposing initiatives, plans and programs that contribute to spreading the culture of the Olympic Movement and emphasizing its importance among the youth, proposing initiatives that emphasize that sport is a lifestyle and a cornerstone for community youth cultivation, adopting sports initiatives that support the sport values and impact in spreading the thoughts of peace friendship, solidarity, honest competition and mutual respect. The NOC Youth Council’s duties also include proposing initiatives that contribute to the advancement of the UAE National Olympic Movement to possess a leading and distinguished position in all local and international competitions, adopting and proposing initiatives that support and promote the key principles of the Olympic Movement, building bridges of cooperation, exchanging experiences and investing in the Olympic youth energies, and promoting the national identity and community service.
