Rashid bin Humaid Al-Nuaimi: The International Olympic Committee supports the idea of a clubs representative elected in the membership of the NOC.
With the decent initiative of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai, President of the NOC, the NOC announced the formation of the UAE Sports Clubs Committee, in a step that is the first of its kind in the Committee’s works, by launching a sports entity that includes representatives of clubs from the Emirates of the State, since the Committee works to strengthen communication channels and convey all proposals and opinions of its representatives and the challenges that they may face to the General Assembly of the NOC.
Article (18 - A 5,6) of the rules of procedure of the NOC Membership includes the representative of the Military Sports Federation and the elected representative of the UAE Sports Clubs, since Mohammed Abdullah Al Mahrezi was nominated as a representative of the Military Sports Federation. The UAE Sports Clubs Committee also met after nominating the names of its representatives from the various sports councils and concerned authorities at the State level, since Nasser Mohammed Al Yammahi was elected as Chairman of the Committee and was elected to represent the Committee in the NOC General Assembly.
The UAE Sports Clubs Committee is formed of Nasser Mohammed Al Yammahi in his capacity as Chairman of the Committee (Representative of the clubs in the Emirate of Fujairah), Khalaf Salem Al Wahdawi, in his capacity as the representative the clubs in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, Waleed Mohammed Al Shaibani, in his capacity as the representative of the clubs in the Emirate of Dubai, Dr. Ammar Rashid Al Naqbi, in his capacity as the representative of the clubs in the Emirate of Sharjah, and Ahmed Hassan Al Foura, in his capacity as the representative of the clubs of the Emirate of Ajman.
This was followed by the meeting of Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Vice-President of the NOC, with the Sports Clubs Committee using visual communication technology. He began by welcoming the members and conveying the greetings of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, confirming the importance of forming the Sports Clubs Committee, as it is the first practice of its kind in the Committee works, since it is also a pioneering practice in structuring the general assemblies of the NOC in general.
Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi referred that the International Olympic Committee supports the idea of a club representative elected in the membership of the NOC in the United Arab Emirates, and that this representative has the right to vote in the meetings of the General Assembly, which confirms the idea of participation among sports institutions in the State, given that the clubs are the ones that form the Sports Federations, and that the Sports Federations are the ones that form the NOC.
For his part, Nasser Mohammed Al Yammahi, Chairman of the UAE Sports Clubs Committee and its representative in the General Assembly of the NOC praised the idea of forming this Committee, confirming its role in the future period in supporting the State’s clubs and presenting initiatives, ideas and proposals to the Board of Directors of the NOC, which works to develop and design the Clubs’ structure in accordance with the directions of the Olympic Movement, and coordinate with sports councils and executive offices of local governments in order to discuss means of technical and logistical support for clubs, and coordinate with the NOC's Athletes Committee in order to study technical plans and programs that support athletes in clubs.
