The National Olympic Committee (NOC), in collaboration with Fujairah Government, has celebrated the second edition of the Emirati Child Day with the participation of 650 students. The event aims to boost the physical, psychological and mental conditions of Emirati children as they are the future generations entrusted with big hopes and ambitions of the nation.
An array of sports events were held at Diyar International School, Fujairah in response to the directives of HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, President of the NOC. This unique initiative was launched by Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, Family Development Foundation and the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood. It is part of the national Motherhood and Childhood Strategy 2017-2020, endorsed by the Ministerial Council for Development under the chairmanship of HH Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Presidential Affairs and Chairman of the Council.
“The participation in this kind of events reflects the NOC’s keenness to communicating with all spectrums of the community, especially as this day is designated for our boys and girls who are the source of joy and happiness in the life of all parents,” said Mohammed bin Darwish, Executive Director of the NOC.
“As part of our commitment to actively engage in all community-based events that bring happiness to children and boost their self-confidence, we are celebrating the Emirati Child Day for the second time as the event us worthy of all sorts of material and moral support.
“Such an attitude is not new to the UAE, which has provided what it takes to ensure the rights of children are respected and promote their skills to offer them safe and balanced growth. No doubt sport is the main source of deriving happiness and absorbing the abilities of our children, and therefore we are keen on delivering this vision; which is advocated by HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Maktoum,” commented Darwish.
“Communities, countries and civilisations are models depicting the culture and development of the community. Therefore, we have got to focus on community members and start with children, who pick up their traditions from their homes, teachers, and community and accordingly shape their objectives, ambitions and future,” said Shareef Al Awadi, Director General of Fujairah Free Zone.
“We, in the UAE, are privileged by leaders that care for people in all fields and events. The keenness of the Mother of the UAE and Emirati community to celebrate the Emirati Child Day is a manifestation of the efforts to groom and inspire future leaders of the nation. So, celebrating the Emirati Child Day is an episode of the UAE’s drive to excellence and the empowerment of humanitarian efforts,” he added.
