Japanese Consul in Dubai visits NOC, calls for bilateral cooperation
The diplomat voices full support of our sports delegation to Tokyo Olympics 2020

HE Talal Al Shinqeeti, Secretary General of UAE National Olympic Committee has received Dr. Akima Umezawa, Japanese Consul General in Dubai. The meeting discussed means of booting bilateral cooperation in various sports fields and means of benefiting from expertise and practices.
During the meeting which was held in NOC premises in the presence of Mohammed bin Darwish, Executive Director of NOC and Ahmed Al Tayeb, Director of Sports and Technical Affairs of NOC, the two parties discussed means of boosting cooperation and forging partnerships in various fields. They called for exchanging visits and holding workshops for athletes, coaches and technical staffs as well as sports training camps, especially as the has huge sports facilities.
Discussions also covered the upcoming sporting events highlighted by the summer Olympics hosted by Tokyo in 2020. The visitor gave a briefing about the efforts of the organizing committees to host the games which are expected to attract thousands of athletes from all continents.
Al Shinqeeti stressed the importance of holding such meetings which open the door for benefiting from all expertise in realization of the vision of HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of NOC, to benefit from the experiences of others and opening new horizons for Olympic activities.
Dr. Akima expressed his delight for visiting the UAE NOC one year before the start of Tokyo Olympic Games to facilitate all procedures and affairs relating to the UAE delegation taking part in the Games. “The participation of the UAE in any event adds value to that event as it boasts of high urban and advanced profile in all sectors worldwide. Such unique sports events offer a great opportunity for familiarizing with the cultures of various peoples through their sports ambassadors. We are looking forward to organizing excellent games that will live for long in the memories of generations,” he added.
At the end of the gathering, the Japanese Consul received a trophy from the NOC and expressed his thanks for the warm reception.
