In accordance with the directives of HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the National Olympic Committee (NOC), the NOC has launched a programme enabling Olympic Sports Federations to benefit from the International Courses for Coaches programme, serving national technical cadres of both genders for the year 2019-2020.

The step is part of the NOC plan, in cooperation with the International Olympic Committee and International Olympic sports federations, to enhance the qualification of national coaches through courses involving advanced scientific programs to build a base of qualified personnel. It will boost the excellence drive in the sports sector and raise the standard of Emirati coaches during the sports year 2019-2020.

The training courses will be delivered by international lecturers/experts nominated by the respective international federations for each game. The NOC shall provide the logistical, administrative and technical support to overcome all difficulties encountered in the administration of the programme. All expenses of courses for the selected federations will be covered, provided the majority of participants have to be Emiratis. Due consideration to be given to women’s participation such that they will have broader benefits to various administrative and technical staffs.

The step is part of initiatives undertaken by the NOC in support of the sports sector and to keep pace with developments in various disciplines. It will add to the benefits reaped by technical, administrative and medical cadres. This time around, the emphasis had been put on coaches in a bid to achieve the highest possible benefit from the chance offered by the IOC and international federations.

As directed by the President of the NOC, this programme is a national duty of the NOC and is in line with its role of leveraging the sports sector in the UAE. All Olympic national federations have been approached to complete the nomination form for this year’s courses. Efforts are being made to hold similar courses in all disciplines.

“These courses will be delivered by highly qualified international experts and financial support is allocated to federations to cover the expenses. Federations need to benefit from this ideal chance and ensure their participation is all-inclusive. Special consideration to be given to selecting attendees. We will continue coordination with the IOC and International Federations to support national federations by holding more courses and workshops. National federations are urged to communicate and are welcome to make any inquiries about these courses,” concluded Bin Darwish.
